Business Mentality

Enfield, Haringey, Waltham Forest and Hackney

What is Business Mentality?

Business Mentality aims to improve business performance through reductions in the number of employees who need to take time off or feel unable to perform well at work as a result of stress.

It is funded by the London Development Agency and is being delivered by the London Development Centre and Open Mind. It is a free service for small businesses and voluntary organisations in the London boroughs of Enfield, Haringey, Waltham Forest and Hackney.

Why has the project been set up?

  • Stress is now a major cause of sickness absence.
  • Over 6 million working days are lost annually in the UK due to stress related illness.

Each individual episode of stress-related absence can impact on an entire organisation: from a dip in individual performance; through disaffected teams and increased staff turnover; leading ultimately to lost revenues, reduced productivity and damaged company reputation.

BUT - by making small adjustments in workplace practices, stress can be reduced at little/no cost and this is where Business Mentality comes in.

Business Mentailty has been set up specifically for smaller organisations. Recognising that the smaller organisations often don't have sufficient time or capacity to do everything that needs to be done, Business Mentality is offering a free service designed to help owner managers to be in a better position to understand and manage these issues - and therefore to improve business performance
